Maybe it's a Roman Catholic thing, but everyone in my extended Italian family follows this tradition: in early December you build a miniature nativity scene in the living room, on the 25th you place the Baby Jesus figurine in the central crib and the 3 Magi figurines on the edge of the scene, then every day you move the Magi a little bit closer to the crib such that on Jan 6th they finally reach it. Then you dismantle the nativity scene and shove everything back into the attic where it'll stay until next December. 😉
Oh, cease your kvetching. Eight days of Chanukah doesn't sound anywhere as exhausting as 12 days of Christmas!
(P.S.: Thank you for linking to some Palestine fundraisers near the end. ♥)
How many people commit to all 12 days though?
