Why is this government different from all other governments?
If it had kept asylum law intact and not redefined “safe country,” it would have been enough;
If it had ended family reunification for subsidiary protection status and not capped annual migration, it would have been enough;
If it had strengthened border security “in coordination with our European partners” and not undermined Schengen, it would have been enough;
If it had DOGE’d its public sector by up to 10% on costs and 8% on personnel (security excepted, of course) and not also created a new ministry at the same time, it would have been enough.
If it had really meant supporting a “diversity” of Jewish life and not equated antisemitism with “hostility towards Israel,” it would have been enough;
If it had threatened artistic and cultural freedom and not promoted the Berlin state senator most responsible for it to do the same at federal level, it would have been enough;
If it had supported Israel’s “right to exist” and not couched it in Staatsräson, it would have been enough;
If it had borrowed to remilitarize and not pushed closer to a nationalist takeover, it would have been enough;
If it had actually been different and not given us another GroKo, it would have been enough;
